Ranks
These are the ranks of Mafia. Some of them have a player count next to them. Those player counts are the minimum needed before the rank is available. If the game starts off with fewer players than that minimum, then the rank will not be available. All ranks are handed out 100% randomly.

Rank Descriptions
Mafia Ranks
Mafia – there is no set number or percentage of players that are mafia. This number remains anonymous. All mafia ranks know each other and are the only ones allowed to discuss the game through mails. During the night phase mafia choose a player to be killed and removed from the game. These are the enemies of the civilians. Dead mafia members may NOT take part in mails to discuss the next target. They are essentially removed from the game (though there is an exception with the medium)
Godfather – This mafia member has the final say on who gets killed. If all mob members choose one player to get killed, Godfather may still choose someone else. The godfather must also appoint who does the killing that night phase, and may appoint himself. Godfather must appoint a second in command, and should godfather die then the second in command becomes Godfather and must appoint a new second. Godfather also dictates who the made guy protects (explained below).
Made Guy – This rank functions similar to the civilian’s protector. He defends a mob member from vigilante attacks. Should he choose the wrong mob to protect, though, the vigilante’s target still dies. Godfather has final say in who the Made Guy protects. In the event of two separate mafias, the made guy also defends against hits by the rival mob. The made guy cannot target the same person two nights in a row.
Mafia (2), Godfather (2), and Made Guy (2) – this is a spin on the classic mafia game. Instead of mafia vs. civilians, it is mafia vs. mafia vs. civilians. This can only take place in a large game, but all the ranks work identical to the mafia counterparts. Members in Mafia (2) do not know who is in mafia (1) or not, but they do know who is in their own mob. Same with mafia (1) not knowing who is in mafia (2). As a result, mafia relies on civilians in a sense to help weed out the rival mob.
Civilian Ranks
Civilian – Your bread and butter rank. This rank has no special powers, they are simply civilians. Most players will be this rank.
The Detective – During a night phase the detective may find out the rank of 1 player. The detective will learn the identity of his target even if he is killed that night. In the event that the detective is resurrected by the medium, he may not share any of his findings specifically (such as stating UserA is the vigilante!) but may state broad generalizations (such as “UserA is not mob”). A resurrected detective that knows the identity of someone that is mafia may not say so, but may push as much suspicion on them as possible even to the point of obviousness.
The Vigilante – This civilian may kill users during the night. He has a limited number of shots he may use (determined by the number of players in the game). He may use all his shots at once, or may save them to use over the coming nights. In the event that a vigilante’s shot is blocked, the attack is not wasted. Below are the number of shots the vigilante gets and the player requirements.
3 shots – 10 players
5 shots – 20 players
7 shots – 25 players
The Protector – The protector chooses a player to protect during a night phase. The protector blocks any attempted vigilante kills and attempted mafia kills against the target that night. This rank may protect himself, but not the same person twice in a row. The protector’s identity is revealed to his protected person ONLY, and ONLY if an attack is stopped. Otherwise the protector remains anonymous, but the protected does know that they are protected.
The Medium – This rank will permit any dead person to take part in discussion during the next day phase. They may not resurrect the same person twice in a row, however. This rank is special in that it may use it’s power even in death. So if the medium dies, he/she may still resurrect a player for the next day phase, including themselves. The resurrected player may not cast a vote, and if that player has a special rank they may not use it. If the resurrected player is mafia, however, they may mail their mafia members about the game during that day phase ONLY.
The Gravekeeper – This civilian simply enough knows all the ranks of the dead. Should the gravekeeper die at any point, they no longer learn the ranks of any new dead after them. If the gravekeeper is resurrected by the medium’s power, they may must follow the same restrictions as a resurrected detective.
The Gravekeeper (2) – This is a second gravekeeper. No two gravekeepers know of each other’s ranks, however.
The Assistant – Whenever the detective learns of someone’s rank, the assistant learns of it as well. The assistant does not know who the detective is and vice versa. Should the detective die before the assistant, the assistant will become the new detective. If resurrected by the medium, the assistant must follow the same restrictions as the detective.
The Hero – This unique rank chooses a player during the night phase. If that player is targeted for a lynch on the following day, the hero prevents that lynch from occurring. If the hero is wrong, then nothing happens. When the hero rescues someone from lynching, his identity is made public, however he may continue using his power as normal so long as he remains alive.
Night Phase
During a night phase all special ranks mail me their decisions for that night. Once I have everyone’s decision, the night phase will end early. HOWEVER, users are permitted to send me a list of their night phase actions early in order to keep night phases running quickly, and eliminate login times as an excuse to call someone a mob member.
Below is the order that rank abilities occur in. Should you die before your rank ability occurs, then you technically die before your power activates (for example, the vigilante kills before the mafia kills. So if the vigilante kills the mafia member that was selected to perform that night’s killing, then the vigilante essentially prevented the mob from getting a kill that night.)
1. Detective
2. Assistant
3. Protector
4. Made Guy
5. Vigilante
6. Mafia
7. Gravekeeper
8. Hero
The medium is not listed since their power can be activated even in death, so it doesn’t matter. Also, in the event of a tie, such as mafia (1) attacks mafia (2) from a rival mob, and mafia (2) attacks a random user, both of the kills occur. If they both target each other, they both die
Day Phase
During the day phase, ALL players start discussing who they think is mob and who they don’t think is mob. Mafia join in on the discussion as well to try and throw off the civilians. At the end of the day phase all members cast a vote to lynch a particular user. Majority rules, and that person is killed off.
You may vote not to lynch at all, in which case no lynching occurs if majority vote for no lynch. You may also refuse to cast a vote, and state so. Should this happen, you are not taken into account for anything when it comes to voting. Not voting is not recommended.
In the event of a tie between two people, no lynching occurs.
Rules
- Only mafia members can communicate via mails. Anyone caught communicating via mails or comments will be disqualified from the game. I strongly encourage whomever is on the receiving end of any non-mafia messages, please post them in this thread.
- You may not tell anyone your rank, but you might give it away in the discussion. Remember, the mafia wants the special civilian ranks dead, so you don’t want to be found out. However you may find it strategic to announce yourself.
- Only the dead chosen by the medium can talk during that day phase. Aside from that, the dead have no voice!
- The dead’s ranks will not be revealed when they are killed. This is purely to arouse suspicion among players
- Ranks are randomly assigned at the start of the game. Do not ask for a specific rank.
- Players who make decisions during the night phase of the game are allowed to email me their decisions early. This is to prevent special ranks and mafia from being discovered based on login times.
- In the event of someone quitting, if they had a special civilian rank than a random civilian gets promoted to that rank. If a mafia member quits, then you ruined the game and we hate you.
Winning
- If the number of mafia members is equal to or greater than civilian at any one time, mafia win
- If all mafia are dead, civilians win
- If there are two mobs, one mob must eliminate the other mob first, then outnumber the civilians to win.
- If there are two mobs, and no civilians left, the mafia with more members wins. If the number is tied, the game continues normally (since made guys might block a mob kill and therefore win the game).
Prizes
Below are the prizes. The prizes will increase with more players that join the game as well. However, players that do not participate will not receive anything, just signing up is not enough.
Winners – 50k
Losers – 25k consolation
15 players +25k to both rewards
20 players +another 25k
Every five players after +25k
So I thought this would be a fun little game for us to play, with some prizes to boot, so everyone wins! We need at least 10 people to play so get everyone to sign up! If you would like to play just post here and if we can get 10 people we will go ahead and start.
Any questions, just PM me or Sisho
